Thanksgiving has been disrupted for hundreds of people in the United States after an estimated 100-vehicle pileup on a Texas highway.

Dozens of people have been injured in the pileup that forced the closure of Interstate 10 in Southeast Texas.

KFDM-TV reports that the collision happened around 8am Thursday local time on I-10 near Beaumont, about 80 miles east of Houston.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says at least 100 cars and trucks crashed in extremely dense fog. Officials at Acadian Ambulance service tell KFDM that at least 48 people have been taken to area hospitals.

No deaths have been reported.
