It's far enough to attack the person with the conviction, especially if you're without fault your self - but be very careful about slandering some one else - in this case, Steve Graf. He had nothing to do with bank robbery 25 years ago, and has no criminal conviction what so ever. This 1080 issue is about corruption, and crimainal behaviour at a high level, and if a burried past must be exumed, so be it - but know that the pushers of 1080's day will come.
Amazing, Government people supposedly in power to represent the interests of 'the people' commit crimes everyday and get away with it. These guys have paid for what they did or what has been alleged. DOC, the Animal Health Board, the Environment Minister etc, etc have not. If there was one shred of credibility to what they are doing to the environment, the economy and to the supposed 'clean green image NZ has, then they need to be honest regarding the figures relating to the fatalities of the non targeted species. New Zealanders who care need, to spread the word to various concerned institutions around the World. After all there is only 1 country (us) and 1 State (USA) that use it (1080). Leave the Graf boys alone theyr'e doing a good job.
This makes no logical sense to me. When someone does something wrong, is convicted and serves time, our justice system and general ethics ask that we be generous enough to forgive and help that person to move on. It's my belief that a healthy community would be pleased about this person feeling strongly about an important issue that affects us all, and that we should support their ability to voice an opinion and make a contribution to their society. Surely it does nobody any good to continue to punish and repress people who admit they have done wrong.
