Duck shooting season is now underway and one of the first out of bed and taking it very seriously was is not a man, but a boy - with a mean shot and a cracking duck call.
Eleven-year-old Dean Sands is as keener duck shooter as you'll find. He's been duck shooting for two years and today tried out his new semi-automatic - which is not a good sign for the duck.
The daily quota in the area he shoots is ten, and Dean is determined to reach his limit.
As well as his gun, he has his duck caller and he has props. Fake ducks on the ground attract interest from the real ones high above
Dean is also a champion caller and has won four local competitions.
His father, Kevin Sands, says he practices duck calling by listening to his tape.
After three kills, Dean and his dad call it a day.
But with the daily quota far from reached, they'll likely head back later in the evening.
