No shit she's going to be scared, she's 14. Vera is one of the coolest people I know. If she's going to stand up for what she believes in then you should be praising her not shutting her down, after all it's people like her that are going to be what the future is made of.

Those people who commented saying horrible things area weak if you have to put down a 14 yr old to makee yourself feel better,I bet you wouldnt have the balls to stand up for what you believe in like her so shutup and grow a pair. Its these kids who have to do deal with the harsh effects of climate change not us, so it is completly her right to try to do something about it now while we still can.

Good on the protesters (whatever their message)who try to make their views heard despite police/official hostility. The important thing to note is that a civilized society does not inhibit opinion. It is sickening to read comments from New Zealanders criticising those who exercise the right to protest. And it scares me to see agents of the government (the police) being used to inhibit the exercise of this essential right.

Another young child brainwashed.

Sad isnt it. Global warming could actualy be the start of civil war in many countries. And Copenhagen? my god what a complete waste of time. John key was right - should have stayed home!!

Why dont we all just kill ourselves - that will save the planet!! *rolls eyes*

She was apparently arrested for "disorderly behavior" at this protest. What does that mean exactly? It certianly didn't look like she was one of the people who scaled the building, so I've got to wonder what exactly prompted her to be arrested over the other protesters? There is certainly nothing wrong with protesting, and if that was all that was happening, then, in my opinion, she shouldn't have been arrested.

Awww... did the poor little snowflake get all scaredy of the big policeman who hauled her off to the police station for making a nuisance of herself. Welcome to reality kid, lesson one: if you piss people off they're likely to do unpleasant things to you. Lesson two: all the chanting and hippy drumming in the world won't lower the temperature by any fraction of a degree. The politicans have failed so if you want to save the planet then you'd better start helping the researchers who are working on carbon neutral tech, sitting in a doorway shouting mindless slogans justs wastes your time and annoyies the police,
