Fiona and Brad Winter were not pleased with the so-called predictions

According to a pamphlet drop and predictions on Christian websites Christchurch was supposed to have suffered another devastating quake yesterday - and a giant tsunami.

They were very specific about the date - the 28th.

You probably don't need us to tell you the 28th has come and gone and it didn't happen, but the scaremongering had an impact.

There are people who took the day off work, who took their children out of school, who didn't sleep easy last night.

So who is accountable?

I don't who's to blame the most whether the people who actually believe this religious crap prophecies or who says it. No prophecies will help people to get on their feet again. scientists have put a great effort studying natural pheromones for years then a stupid Christian charlatan thinks IT can reads the truth out of a old erroneous idiot full of bigotry book to put children to sleep.

I'm sorry but I think this was highly blown out of proportion. How many of these "prophecies" have we had now? If people aren't beginning to realize that they are a great deal of loonies in Christchurch (just like every other country/city), then I think we should all give up now. Honestly if she was wacky enough to hand out pamphlets about the "end of days" then she obviously isn't going to apologize... I just think people are enjoying having a good whinge at the moment. Perhaps Fiona could have said to "Sam ummm Brad" to suck it up and to pay no attention rather than taking him out of school, maybe this would have taught him a better life lesson than just letting him be afraid of something that you obviously don't have the common sense to have a laugh at... It sounds an awful lot like Mum is more frightened than the son in this case... Also how old is he?! (from a disgruntled citizen of Chch at peoples stupidity)

This is another very sad situation. The delivery of the brochures was without excuse. Campbell Live should however have provided a fair and balanced report and included the fact that almost all Christian churches in the city and all over NZ openly rejected this so called 'prohecy' as soon as they became aware of it. The author and christian websites involved may actually amount to only a few actual individuals. Very sad that so few can cause so much distress.

holy Christ, why do you need an apology? We all know its not going to happen?, just leave the strange and unusual to themselves. We dont expect an apology from the weatherman when he gets it wrong. I dont know why this makes news in New Zealand? maybe we have nothing better to report on?

As one who may be called a fundamentalist I will add that the Bible says that "the Name of God is blasphemed among the nations because of you" , that is to say, us, the people of God, or, for the sake of this argument, the Church. Such derision as this failed prophecy has evinced we bought on ourselves by our presumption in speaking when God has not spoken. And when God is blasphemed because of the antics of us his people, God will hold us, the Church responsible. I wish I could apologize for these people, but then i rejected the prophecy from the outset. They have egos attached to this and will not likely apologize, but, as they say, they are still accountable to God. IF He is as merciful to them as they were in spreading this prediction then, well, they will face a terrible wrath. Can they take what they are willing to deal out?
