Hundreds have packed cinemas for the premiere of 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy in Hong Kong.
It's billed as the world's first adult film in 3D and has pornographers hoping the extra dimension will save the xxx movie business from the internet.
The film, shot on a budget of $4 million, tells the touching story of a young man who befriends a duke who introduces him to a world of royal orgies.
"There's a deeper message to the movie rather than people expecting body parts flying around," explains its director, Christopher Sun.
Already tour groups are crossing the border from China to more permissive Hong Kong to view the uncut version. However, New Zealand audiences might be waiting a while to see Sex and Zen on the big screen here. After initial discussions, Hoyts say they would like to see the film before committing to show it.
