A truck which crashed in Wellington this morning required a crane to be removed after tipping and blocking the left-hand lane of SH1 near Paremata.

The 40-tonne truck with a six-wheel trailer was hauling a load of fish worth $500,000 when it rolled. Nobody was injured in the crash, but SH1 was closed briefly around 9:30am while a crane was used to lift the cab off the road.

The road may be closed again when the trailer is lifted.

The truck is owned by TransOtway, a company specialising in the transport of chilled and frozen goods which has been in operation since 1962.

Traffic authorities are warning while there are no significant delays at present, there is a possibility of a buildup.

I dunno, there's something definitely fishy about this story.

Bruce, a truck crashed and they reported it. What more were you hoping for? Maybe that the truck transformed into a massive alien robot and ran off, dodging the fine?
