Ashleah Gilchrist is a red head. Over the years she's learnt to be sun conscious knowing her fair skin burns easily.

So easily, she received third degree burns to 37 percent of her legs, even after applying sunscreen.

The sunscreen hadn't expired, and Ashleah says she applied it four times during the course of the day.

She's been told her recovery will take at least six weeks.

Kate King went to find out what went wrong.

I have watched the video of this story again and it doesnt make any sense. How come only her legs were burnt?. I know when I go out to the beach I dont just put sunscreen on my legs which Im sure alot of others do too...you put it all over your body. I have used this product on myself and on my children and have had no issues with it. I hope she does get better though in time for her wedding

We all need to remember "The Rules" especially those of us who have fair skin or who are taking any medication which may make us "photo-sesitive" SLIP,SLOP,SLAP..AND COVER UP...We can't all be bronzed beauties

Banana Boat shouldn't need that exact bottle to test as if their was an issue with the product it would be batch-wide, but even if it is because her skin is too sensitive they should make note that sensitive skin may react on their packaging. it is that saying that 'they protest too much. . . '
