I'm proud to say I've been a very busy little worker bee these past two weeks!
Firstly, we had “the talk” with our parents. You know, the really awkward one where you have to hand over your budget spreadsheet and figure out how on earth to pay for everything! But it wasn't as bad as we were expecting, and while things are a little over our $10,000 budget at the moment, there's still quite a few costs to be finalised so we might scrape in at the end!
So resting safe in the knowledge that we will be able to pay the bills at the end of this adventure, we set about spending some money! My favourite part!
At the top of our list was FH's ring. So I dragged him down to the mall and had him try on a variety of sizes, shapes, fits, metals – you name it! In all of 10 minutes he settled on a shape, size and metal.
The poor shop assistant probably thought she had a sale in the bag, but we had other ideas! After a bit of internet and wedding forum 'research', we found an awesome ring on
Etsy. For those of you currently scratching your head wondering what 'Etsy' is, let me clarify; it is a fantastic website where you can buy and sell all things handmade - but be prepared to lose many hours trawling the website and falling in love with completely unnecessary things!!! You have been warned.
But back to FH's ring.
We found a trader who custom makes titanium rings for a fraction of the price you can buy them for in NZ. They have a huge selection of styles, most of which are unlike anything we've seen in stores. So FH chose the ring and for all of US$60 (and free shipping!) we took a punt and ordered it. Hopefully it'll arrive next week, and we're even more hopeful that it'll be a perfect fit!!
We also finally ordered the boy's ties from
3wisemen.co.nz (I've had my eye on them for months), and I was delighted when they turned up only two days later! How's that for service. And despite FH proceeding to tell me they weren't the ones he wanted (he was kidding), he seems quite stoked that some of the planning revolves around him at the moment!
Also in my Etsy travels, I have found the exact style of veil I've been hunting for, and for just US$29! And I have chosen to ignore FH's 'constructive' comments regarding veils (apparently they're something to wear to funerals, and it'll just be in my way all night).
I'm also eyeing up some gorgeous wedding jewellery...
Oh dear. I think I'm hooked. Quick, someone block the website before I spend all our money!
