The New Zealand Rugby Union has unveiled a new rugby jersey to mark 100 years of Maori rugby.
The jersey will be worn by the Maori team celebrating the anniversary of the first game in 1910, by returning to Rotorua to play Ireland on June 18.
New Zealand Maori captain Liam Messam today modelled the 'Te Ao Hou'– 'The New Dawn'.
Rugby Union Maori liaison Tiki Edwards says each jersey will be unique to each player.
"What they bring is their whanau, their family, and all the history into their jersey into their performance and they can do all Maori proud."
"The boys get their feeling for it," says Messam. "I had goosebumps when he was explaining it to me and just really looking forward to getting out there and putting on the jersey."
"It's not just out of our heads, it's from our ancestors that jersey is alive," says Edwards.
Part of the design has been incorporated into a new issue of stamps from New Zealand Post.
