The conflict between Sudan and its newest neighbour - South Sudan - is threatening to escalate into full scale war.

The south became an independent state last year, but its relationship with Sudan remains extremely tense.

An estimated 700,000 South Sudanese are being forced to return from the north and the country is ill equipped to cope with them.

Rachel Smalley reports from South Sudan.
