Phew! I finally have 5 minutes to sit down and write this blog! I’ve been here five days and have hardly had time to take a breath.  We’re so busy Mike McRoberts woke up at 3am this morning to write his. Unfortunately there’s no way I can do that – I need my beauty sleep!

A typical day for me at the moment begins at 4:30 am to get ready to go live into our 6pm news programme.  It usually takes me 45 minutes to wash, dry, straighten my hair and do my makeup.  Then it’s into picking scripts up off e-mail to put them into our autocue for the live cross - all done in time to catch the 6:04 Javelin train out to Olympic Park to our live cross site. Our position overlooks Olympic Park and from the other side we can see the athletes village. Truly a very cool view.

I spent the day with the NZ Rowing team on Tuesday – they are all looking very relaxed and in great shape.  You may have heard my prediction on 3News; I believe Rowing will be our most successful sport, with six medals - three of them gold.  The heats get underway Saturday night NZ time and I’m really looking forward to following their progress.  I will be based at Eton for the four days of finals – and bringing you 3Sport live from there with – hopefully – all our medal winners live!

Yesterday, we were lucky enough to get to check out New Zealand House when we went for a lovely English morning tea with the NZ High Commission.  Wow! Seriously awesome views from up there; you can even see the Volleyball Stadium – very cool.

I was also lucky enough to be at the Governor General’s dinner last night, when Nick Willis was announced as the NZ flag bearer.  What a special moment that was.  The look of sheer pride on his face as he walked in was incredible, and I’m sure it will be tenfold when he leads our team out into that wonderful stadium for the Opening Ceremony.

Really looking forward to seeing what London has in store for us!

Let the games begin! Can’t wait.
