ACC has announced Ralph Stewart as its new chief executive, starting September 19.

Mr Stewart replaces Dr Jan White, who has been in the job six years. Dr White announced her intentions to step down in April.

Mr Stewart has 27 years experience in insurance and asset management, and for the last seven years has been the CEO of AXA.

He's also spent time as deputy chair of the Investment and Savings Insurance Association and a director at AMP.

ACC chairman John Judge says Mr Stewart has the "experience and ability to continue ACC's success".
