16 months of no rugby for these young talented boys is like taking out there life support! For some of these boys not having rugby for this long of a period can actually damage their future. And why do I say that? Because as a pacific islander who also use to play a lot of footie in my time tend to occupy leisure time doing things that bring so much harm to oneself. ie. drinking, drug use, gang affiliation etc these are just some of the things that can hinder one of these boys from pursuing a career in rugby. (Speaking from experience only) I hope that this will not be the case for these young boys & hope that there is a huge support group right behind them.

How unfair!!
Both schools should be treadted with an equal punishment, it is unbelievable in the difference of time being banned from the games..

6weeks Vs 16months? It's not fair. Regardless of who threw the first punch, the response is just reposible.. It takes two to tango. It's an entire 14month difference!!! Lets hope those banned do not find "alternative's" to squeeze in there spare time. As for Mr. Watt isnt it about time you brought back the Kelston League team? You've lost enough players for australia, and other schools.

What a debacle. This will surely give a strong message to young rugby players out there - if you're not in with the old boys you are nothing.
Is it not common sense to dish out an equal or similar punishment to both teams/players involved? After all the fact is that players from both teams threw punches. Why not simply ban the Kelston players for the first 6 weeks of next season?
It would be interesting if the media would inform the public how many lawyers the Grammar team took along to their hearing. Who says money can't buy happiness.....!!
Go Mt Albert Grammar for tomorrow's Auckland final. I feel sorry for the AGS players who were not involved but at least they still get a shot at the Auckland title, The Kelston Boys will miss ALL OF NEXT YEAR'S SEASON as well as a further 6 months playing time. Are the Grammar boys scared they might not make any rep sides next year? Do they really need to get rid of any competition by any means possible..? Auckland Rugby Union you are shameful and are an embarrassment to all New Zealanders ideals and belief in fairness, those Grammar Boys will probably become Lawyers or Policemen any way, similar character requirements.
A.R.U. - Congratulations on a shocking example of disparity.

Like a lot of Kiwi's, I do not in anyway condone the actions of any of the boys or supporters in the weekends incident and I won't go pointing the racial bone. I do think that there should of been a whole lot more thought go into the whole process that has now seen a bunch of young testosterone fuelled teenagers, left out on the street to find a different form of entertainment to drain their energies on. With this in mind I now don't think we have heard the last of these boys in the headlines. Maybe five nights a week training or something else physically challenginig would of been more suited than breaking the pride of these boys, leaving them angry, bitter and bored.
