What a week I had with Sizzle, he certainly brought out the worried mum in me.
The little man was fast a sleep at the top of the stairs in the home and rolled off them and fell roughly 2 metres.
Being a Veterinary Nurse you would think I would have reacted calmly.
Not a chance - full panic mode kicked in.
He was in shock and was not looking good at all, I was distraught and more annoyed at myself that I had brought him up to my office for some company.
Thankfully, the emergency clinic I took him to was fantastic.
They had him on a drip, a nice warm heat pad to raise his temperature, and the team were very calm - making sure Sizzle had pain relief and was comfortable.
They even looked after me and made sure that I was doing okay.
I didn’t worry about the cost of the fees, as Sizzle is insured.
They could treat him the gold star standard and I didn’t have to worry that we couldn’t afford it - a huge weight off my mind.
Sizzle is now back to causing mischief and being the fabulous Sizzle that he is.
I can sigh with relief.
I guess the moral of this story is accidents do happen in the home when you least expect it and we have to be aware of what potentially could happen to prevent it and also insure your pets it is so worth while.
