A former Waiouru Army Museum employee charged with the theft of hundreds of military medals from the museum has been remanded on bail after a court appearance.

Keith Davies, 57, charged with stealing 844 medals between 1995 and 2002, did not enter a plea and was bailed to reappear on October 6 after appearing in the Wellington District Court on Thursday.

Davies was arrested after returning to New Zealand from Australia last month.

The case is not linked to the theft of nine Victoria Crosses and 87 other medals from the museum in 2007.
