Kaitaia businessman Daniel Taylor has collapsed as he heard five new charges against him today.

Taylor was removed from the courtroom but remained in custody as he received medical attention.

Taylor, the deputy chair of the town's business association, had already been facing 17 charges involving four boys. A new victim came forward and the new charges were laid. The extra counts were laid when Taylor appeared in the district court this morning.

Taylor's lawyer argued the offending was at the lower end of the scale - but Judge John McDonaldinterrupted to say more serious allegations have been made.

there are alot of people who DO feel sorry for him and are taking the 'innocent til proven guilty' approach. i on the other hand do NOT feel sorry for him, he's getting a taste of how imprisoned his victims have probably felt for the last 5 years under his abuse!!
