Wet and windy Auckland weather did not stop the protest against the Government's decision to axe 80 percent of funding to adult community education.

More than 400 people milled to the streets carrying signs laden with a passionate message for Prime Minister John Key - "Don't let the sun set on night classes".

Today marks the end of Adult Learners Week, and protests have been held across the country in a bid for the Government to change its decision.

Hon Maryan Street says it is not a decision the Labour Party would have made and thinks it is an absolute tragedy.
