Africa's most active volcano has sent a spectacular display of lava and bright orange smoke and ash into the night sky in Virunga National Park, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Lava from the volcano is flowing away from populated areas of the national park and poses no danger to animals or humans, according to officials at Virunga National Park.
Nyamuragira, which erupts on average every two years, sits approximately 40km north of Goma in North Kivu province, and just northwest of Virunga's other active volcano, Nyiragongo.
Since 1882, the 3058 metre high Nyamuragira has erupted more than 40 times but fatalities are rare.
