A vehicle has driven through a give way sign and hit a bus which then flipped on to its side and shunted off the road in Mossburn this morning.
The car involved was carrying three people, a 21-year-old male driver, and two other male passengers aged 17 and 16. The 21-year-old and the 17-year-old received moderate injuries and were transported to Southland hospital while the 16-year-old has more serious injuries and was flown to Southland Hospital by helicopter.
All 17 passengers on the ‘AwesomeNZ’ bus were uninjured and have been transported to Te Anau by another bus.
Police say speed and alcohol were a factor in the crash.
