The British schoolboy alleged to have become a dad at the age of 12 is not the baby's father.
It is understood the family of Alfie Patten - who caused an international media storm when it was revealed he became a father at age 12 - is taking a British tabloid to court after it reported the results of a DNA test that showed that he was in fact not the father of Chantelle Stedman's baby girl.
Alfie was shown on television and in tabloid spreads holding the newborn Maisie Roxanne.
“I take responsibility and will look after baby Maisie like a grown up father. I am the only one who slept with Maisie's mother Chantelle," Alfie told the media whilst holding what he then thought was his baby daughter.
Chantelle had insisted that she was in love with the babyfaced schoolboy and that he had taken her virginity.
However, half a dozen boys from Eastbourne in England have claimed to have slept with the 15-year-old, who fell pregnant at the age of 14, and prompted Alfie to take a paternity test.
“If it’s me, the other boys will have to shut up," Alfie told reporters at his decision to undertake the DNA test.
Responding to the leak of the test results, Alfie's father told media representatives that all newspapers had received a gagging order on publishing details of the results and they will be taking the Mirror to court.
The story prompted a huge moral outrage and public debate surrounding traditional family values across Britain, leading to public statements by politicians such as Conservative leader David Cameron.
