At 63, Alice Cooper says he is in the best shape of his life.

He has got his own radio show, plays golf, is still releasing albums and still touring, which now brings him to New Zealand.

After watching his latest ridiculous music video, you can see why Rolling Stone calls Alice Cooper the most "beloved heavy metal entertainer" of all time.

“It was fun because I was young and drunk enough to realise the paper was writing about me and we were selling out shows because we were the forbidden fruit.”

With that in mind, Cooper's made over 25 records but notes that at some point there, it became impossible to shock.

“Now you turn on your TV and someone is really getting their head cut off, for real, and he's really hanging. They hung Saddam on live television. And I went, ‘Hey, that really killed the shock value of me hanging on stage’.”

Clearly, that did not stop him and he says he is proud to be in company of other evergreen rockers like Mick Jagger, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and Ozzy Osbourne.

Cooper says his career has lasted so long because “we were all influenced by the Beatles”.

Cooper says in his short time here he has become a wee bit fascinated by rugby and wanted me to put this message out there.

Seriously.

“All Blacks is Alice Cooper territory! It's all attitude, you look in the eye and look them in the eye . You know you're better than them so just do it!”

And with that in mind, Cooper is on stage in Auckland tonight. As usual he will die in a multitude of ways because that is what Alice Cooper does.

Because he reckons when you retire, that is when you actually die.
