Tiger Woods faces Steve Williams for the first time since they split

By Ross Karl

The Presidents Cup is underway in Melbourne and all eyes are on Tiger Woods and his former caddie Steve Williams.

Williams and the man he now carries the bag for, Adam Scott, are in the same foursome group as Woods – the first time they have been paired together since their split earlier this year.

After starting strongly, Woods and Steve Stricker gave up the lead to Scott and KH Choi on the second hole, while Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson almost made the perfect start against Ernie Els and Ryo Ishikawa.

And Simpson’s approach shot gave them the advantage early in the back nine.

The third hole was causing troubles for Matt Kuchar and Dustin Johnson against Aussies Aaron Baddeley and Jason Day, but both teams had their share of rough play as foursomes were split midway through the morning round.
