The parents of a nine-year-old found badly beaten and hiding in a cupboard are in court today applying for name suppression.
Police recovered the girl from a West Auckland home last month suffering from starvation, dehydration and with injuries to almost all of her body.
Her mother and father are appearing in Waitakere District Court today.
New Zealand Law Society's Jonathan Krebs believes the public should know their names.
The parents are facing 36 charges of abusing the girl and another child, aged seven.
