The parents of a nine-year-old found badly beaten and hiding in a cupboard are in court today applying for name suppression.

Police recovered the girl from a West Auckland home last month suffering from starvation, dehydration and with injuries to almost all of her body.

Her mother and father are appearing in Waitakere District Court today.

New Zealand Law Society's Jonathan Krebs believes the public should know their names.

The parents are facing 36 charges of abusing the girl and another child, aged seven.

I think this is disgusting. We all know why they want it, for their own safety. Because every person will get them and hurt them. Maybe even kill them. Its people like them who don't deserve to have children. That girl will be traumatised for the rest of hr life. No doubt, she will have complications her entire life because of all this stuff that has happened to her. No child deserves, no human or living thing. They should suffer, they should not have given them the suppression. They should face the music. The way I see it is, if you can dish it. TAKE IT! Because if they are so ugly enought to hurt their daughter they should be able to face people. They are sick, disgusting humans. What is this world coming to?

What right have these people to name suppression (to hide behind) when an innocent child in their care suffered the level of abuse that is alleged? It really concerns me that the victim has far little protection than the perpetrators or those who protect the perpetrators and don't stand up for an innocent child. Hopefully at least some justice will be served and those responsible brought to justice and an appropriate penalty set (not just a slap with a wet noodle) ... What message is this sending to society? You can get away with it and no one will know as you've got name suppression?
