Police have arrested a man they believe to be the "silent robber" responsible for three aggravated bank robberies in south Auckland.

Ben Bosch Herkt, 35, will appear in the Manukau District Court later this morning.

Police say he targeted three banks in the southern suburbs of Papakura and Manurewa between January 4 and 12.

Each time he handed over a note informing the teller he had a gun and wanted cash, and his requests were granted.

"There were no sightings of a firearm," said Detective Sergeant Dave French of the incidents in National Bank, BNZ and Kiwibank premises.

He remained silent throughout the robbery.

This guy was identified because he didn't try and disguise himself at all during the robberies and you use that photo with this update.
