There was a tense standoff this morning in an Oamaru church.
At the centre of the stand-off was the centrepiece of the church – an altar, ornate, cherished and made from Italian marble.
The Dominican Sisters who own it want it moved; but locals are determined it should stay where it's been since 1926.
