A day after it was revealed the manager of Australian X-Factor winner Altiyan Childs had been busted with drugs and guns, the singer himself has claimed he is broke.

Despite winning the competition in November and notching up a hit single and a double-platinum album, the star claims to owe up to $400,000.

Childs has also denied any knowledge of his former manager Steve Yankuloff's involvement with drugs.

"What I have after this is a lower bank account," Childs says. "I love my fans a little too much."

The singer is also denying rumours that he was romantically linked to a 15-year-old fan. The famous celibate has revealed his real girlfriend is in fact 19-year-old Nicky Kingston.

i was surprised when he won.......... i'm not surprised to see he's frittered away all his money, and is now trying to pull the sympathy card. leave the nineteen year olds alone, go back to forklift driving and make a start on that debt.

I have been so shocked by the so totally inaccurate and slanted media reports of Altiyan's troubles that I WILL NEVER BELIEVE ANYTHING EVER AGAIN that is reported in any newspaper or on any of the mainstream TV current affair shows. Now, I know that there is a saying about never believing what you read in the media BUT really we do expect you to at least get your FACTS right! You can't even spell Nikki's name correctly. You, as journalists, should be thoroughly ashamed of your shoddy investigation skills and writing abilities.

What an out and out lie, and total gutter journalism. Altiyan is not charged with anything!!!!! His ex manager is. Get your facts straight. He was not "busted" with guns and drugs. He knew nothing about them, and was merely a house-guest who was barely there over the 11 weeks he stayed there. What kind of shoddy reporting is this? Check your facts.

I am disappointed at this slanted and factually incorrect reporting. Altiyan Childs EX- manager was arrested for gun-related charges - the business relationship was severed 2 weeks before the arrest. Secondly Altiyan did not say he owes $400,000 - he said that he was down by this amount. You could have added that Altiyan has just completed a sellout tour, featuring some of his original songs, and that his first album went double platinum in Australia and platinum in New Zealand. But I guess that's not news.

First of all Altiyan never said he owes a cent! What he said was that HE is owed $300,000 - $400,000 by his former manager. The only crime Altiyan is guilty of is being different and too trusting and caring of people. If that makes him a bad role model so be it!

Altiyan Childs is a musical, creative genius. What muso is good with business affairs? How is it his fault that the man supposed to be responsible for his business affairs spent all his money ? Sony (Altiyan's prize as record label), should be taking more responsibility for his career. I hope you recover every penny that was stolen from you Altiyan. Rock on dude ??
