An Affair to Remember

Wed, 08 Jul 2009 12:00a.m.

There I was, surrounded by hundreds, some just as beautiful as me, but you saw straight through the crowds and clasped your eyes on me first. I held you and I knew we were perfect together, onlookers knew we were perfect together but you weren’t convinced. I knew you loved me but you needed to test your love by distancing yourself, absence makes the heart grow fonder after all.

You left me for a week. I know you saw others but I know I was still in your heart and your dreams as you were in mine.

In our time apart your imaginative mind tried to mix me up, break me down, find my faults, trying to disbelief my perfection, giving in to the notion that I was too good to be true.

I longed for you to return, I had to see you again, to prove to you that I was the one.

When you finally returned you had no interest in the others, you had eyes only for me.

Again I held you and we stood, we sat, we walked, we laughed and we cried. You took me out, you showed me the light, I shined in your sun. We took photos, captured the memories so this time you couldn’t forget me.

Again you left me, but this time I knew you’d return, for the heart knows what it wants.

In days you returned, ever so sure of me and our future, you whisked me away dying to share me with the world, wanting them to share in the happiness and beauty that we created.

Together we travelled through crowded airports, across vast oceans and exotic lands to the other side of the world, to my new home NZ.

And now that we are here I must begin my life of solitude, hidden away- unable even to live under the same roof with you for fear of us being found out.

In honoring your traditional wishes, I shall do this for you my love.

But I wait, dreaming of that day in the future when all the pieces of the puzzle will fall into place, and we will meet again, and together we will create history.

We will be the best we have ever been.

I'm getting married to my childhood sweetheart in Feb 2010. We live in our own home in Auckland, along with our 3 adorable, time consuming Meows. I'm creative, opinionated, indecisive, organised, imaginative, a little crazy and not very good at keeping quiet about things that excite me... so this is going to be my perfect playground!
