I think it is disgusting what these poor animals have been through but instead of us all standing around moaning about it why are we not focused on preventing this in the future and on finding these animals warm loving homes? I would love to know how to adopt one.

In response to T Robbins , we will never know what other tests were preformed on the animals at VARC , they can get away with pretty much anything . When VARC was operating the SPCA were called on occasions to visit due to concerns of lack of water and unsanitary conditions. As for Goldenthal having a "Heart of gold" , I find this hard to believe as no one with a heart of gold would be involved with vivisection.
You ask , how we find cures without animals? well for a start we stop using them and embrace to alternative methods already out there and start to be concerned with actually finding cures rather than large pharmaceutical companies and others whose main concern is profit at the expense of millions of animals.
There is plenty of information to study if one chooses to learn more about alternatives and just what a wasteful , disgusting industry this is .

Dear Sir, I have know Dr. A.E. Goldenthal, for almost 30years. I knew him when he was a practicing Vet, in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Allen always had a HUGE heart of gold towards his patience (animals)... including the ones thrown away.. Like soooo many other people in the world, I love animals, just as much as the next. However, wheither we like it or not Testing on animals, has always played a HUGE roll in today, and yesterday's moderin medicine. Where would Diabetics be today, without incilin... OHHHH yeah animal played a HUGE roll in this. What about people who are blessed enough to have the chance at a second life with organ transplants... yep that was a baboon, and a German Shepard. Now, Lets got one step further... and look into our own backyards... better yet how about your humain societies... As many, many, research animals do come from humain societies.. How about all the animals left in Puppy Mills, left to be bred, a thousand times, in less the putrid, conditions.. no food, sores, and lets not forget, left in kennel crates, NEVER to be let out!!!!!!!! These animals are left to die, for the sake of you wanting a cutie puppy... I do have a question for you. Are the dogs at Allen's facility left in horrible condition??? are they not feed, watered, and in away cared for????? Does he inject them with chemicals for the sake of beauty, or to see the reaction of a NEW chemical placed on the market, to see what the reaction would be should a child or human come in Contact????? OH BUT I bet the shampoo's, calogne or toilet bowl cleaner you use has been tested on animals.... more than once. Now I know it is hard to believe that the DNA, in some Animals is like that of humans.. But the age old question is still the same how on god earth do we find cures for illness with out research???? HUMAINLY I am not talking about make-up, and chemicals.. I am talking about HUMAN illness.. IF you have the answer than share with everyone... T. Robbins, Canada

John, Along with 200,000 other kiwi's ( give or take a few thousand ) I received an AIR N.Z. smart-card in the mail. I am on their data-base, so that's fine I guess. What has got my goat is the message on the back of their envelope which states,"PLEASE HELP AIR NEW ZEALAND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT BY REDUCING PAPER WASTAGE ". When I went to school this was referred to as " shutting the stable doors after the horse had bolted ". If I am to do as they ask and put my pack in the re-cycling collection so it can be put back on a smelly diesel truck and returned to Auckland from whence it probably came. Had they asked their data-base first they could have produced only the number's needed and left several tree's where they were. Not very GREEN really. merry christmas Dennis Lynn

I was appalled at this cruelty ,and had no idea that dogs were being used for testing. Was disappointed when Campbell did follow up to see that he was concentrating on disposal of remains and not on the welfare of live dogs and the reason why they are being used in the 1st place. There are a few crucial ligaments that I would like to break and give placebos for.WE need to rise up as a Nation and put paid to this cruelty as there are numerous drugs that are perfectly good on the market an d it is all about drug companies wanting more and more money. What can we do to stop this.

Could you contact Chained Dog awareness and put a tv coverage of all the cruelty that is happening in peoples back yards dogs are caged/chained up 24/7 with contact, sometimes water and no exercise and yet the SPCA can do nothing it is disgusting that this is happening in NZ!! Please look on their website or facebook at some of their horrific cases if you think Beagle testing is bad this is worse!!!!!

Goldenthal is always overseas. In 2007 he was talking about his new reasearch lab i think was in cape town. Hes now apparently in China doing god knows what,i wonder if he has to have an ethic committe there.? There needs to be amajor amendment to the animal welfare act.Isnt it time for a legal binding petition to make changes to the act(SAFE)? If the poll is anything to go on 96% are in favor of change.

Well, what do you expect, the boards of the companies appoint their own ethics committees, i wonder who the SPCA rep on the ethics board was and what they thought of the goings on in that company.
I would not be surprised if many companies undertake research that hasn't had proper ethical consideration, might be time to clamp down on this sort of thing.
I was under the impression that VARC stated that they did NOT harm the animals they tested on, but it is obvious they harm every animal they tested on mentally if not physically. I gather Goldenthal went overseas, anyone like him is welcome to leave also, that is one brain drain i can encourage.

This deceitful conspiracy has been going on for years. The conspirators need to be exposed I mean the ethical committee hiding behind their own set of morals. Ethical = correct, decent, humane, respectful.Have some respect and bury those pups nothing you have done is decent or ethical except by your own sick standards. It makes me wonder about all the under the radar research that went on.The illegal or that which made people richer for it research. The stuff that was never recorded Allan.Been down this forum before in 2007 and everytime a worm crawls from a rock a little bird removes all traces. You all disgust me with your lies and cruelty.who among you is man/women enough to stand up and answer for it?Hmmm not one of you. cowards!
