New Zealand actress Anna Paquin is expecting twins, it has been reported.

The news was revealed by her True Blood co-star Sam Trammell who told US Weekly that the "vampires for grown-ups" programme was becoming "the twins show".

Trammell and his girlfriend Missy Yager have 11-month-old twins.

Paquin, 29, and husband Stephen Moyer, 42, who also stars in True Blood, have been getting advice from Trammell over how to cope with twins.

"It's harder having twins, but it's all we know. We're trying to impart some decent wisdom," said Trammell.

"We told them to hold on tight."

Moyer has two children - Lilac, 10, and Billy, 12 - from a previous relationship.

"I love my kids so much," Moyer told Zap2it.com in May.

"I think that the fact that Anna is pregnant just adds more crazy to the bundle of fun."

Paquin, who plays Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood, was born in Canada but moved to New Zealand when she was four and spent her childhood here before shifting to Los Angeles in her late teens.

She won an Academy Award in 1994 at the age of 11 for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Piano.
