After two failed attempts to break the skinny dipping world record, Kiwis will get another crack at it in Gisborne over the holiday break.

Revellers at BW campgrounds will try and beat the record of 413 people skinny dipping in one location at one time at Midway beach on December 30.

BW camping festival organiser Toby Burrows says campers there have never been afraid to challenge the norm.

"They're an enthusiastic group of young New Zealanders who are ready to give anything a go once, so we hope they'll be out in force."

The weather looks favourable for the record attempt, with the MetService forecasting sunshine and a high of 24 degrees.

Two attempts at the record during the first weekend of summer failed, with an event at Christchurch's Sumner Beach attracting just 226 people and another at Papamoa Beach near Tauranga getting 299.
