NZ'ers are blasé about superannuation. We are so blasé we just meekly accept that we are asked to pay taxes all our lives and then receive nothing when help is needed (the safety-net). This not only applies to old age pension but also to a host of other issues (unemployment benefit being one favorite). The slow and endemic belief by people today that we pay taxes and then have to provide for what the State should then supply when required has become such a mindset in this country it merely allows politicians to harvest us mercilessly with no duty of care how they spend our tax dollar. If we are not paying taxes for a safety-net then what are we paying taxes for? Could someone please tell me, because currently we are paying twice, and allowing successive governments to opt out of social responsibility.

The work that the modern kiwi media and responsible companies like Sorted who teach nice people like Liz and Rhianna to save money is very importamt. To be honest me and some of my work mates need to take a hot rod to our backsides and get moving quick to save money. I do think it easirer to build a solid feature with a spouse, other half or other differemt kind of civil partnerships that work. We all need motivation to build a future. Robin is very informative and could give lectures to my Insurance body as to ensuring that we can still go at 65, rather than as the smart Mike Wilson pointed out the political suicide of raising the age when we all want more of life, especially as couples entrering the twilight zone!
