Police are urgently seeking information from the public after two men – one with a gun - invaded a house in Levin this morning.
The incident took place at 6:45 when two balaclava-clad men forced their way into a Tainui St house brandishing a firearm.
The pair confronted the three occupants of the house and police say a violent struggle took place, leaving one of the occupants in hospital with an arm injury.
Acting Senior Sergeant Sarn Paroli of Levin Police says no shots were fired and the two men left empty-handed, escaping through a neighbouring section onto SH57.
The occupants then ran to their neighbour’s house and the police were called.
Police say it is likely the offenders were seeking money and are not believed to be known to the victims.
“Descriptions of the offenders are being worked through with the victims, but they are naturally distressed and it will take a little bit of time to get some more details.
“It’s possible that the offenders left in a vehicle. We’re appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around the property or in the general area including SH57 this morning to let police know.”
