An American has been arrested for allegedly hacking into the email accounts of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities.
Police say Christopher Chaney targeted 50 celebrities including actresses Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis, as well as popstar Christina Aguilera.
The arrest follows an 11-month investigation dubbed Operation Hackerazzi.
It found Chaney had hacked into Google, Apple and Yahoo email accounts, using public information to guess secure passwords.
It is alleged Chaney stole private and personal photographs and movie scripts. Some were offered to websites and published – including nude photographs of Johansson.
Chaney was released on a $10,000 bond after appearing before a judge in Florida and has been banned from using any computer device that has internet access on it.
Chaney has also been told he cannot use any drugs or possess any kind of firearms and has been ordered to live with his parents.
TMZ is also reporting that Chaney has a criminal past including being arrested for running a scheme to steal life insurance money from people.
He apparently pleaded guilty to mail fraud back in 1998, according to court documents obtained by the site.
He was convicted and sentenced to 48 months probation and ordered to return the money he stole from his victims.
Chaney is accused of hacking 50 people and if convicted faces 121 years in federal prison.
