Arthur hits the big screen in time for Easter this week.
It’s a remake of the ‘80s Dudley Moore classic, this time with Russell Brand in the lead role of the child-like billionaire forced into contemplating a loveless marriage to keep his pocket money.
Offsetting Brand is Dame Helen Mirren, who as Hobson, takes on the role John Gielgud won an Oscar for.
I can hear the cry of "why why why remake another classic", and while I feel your pain and embrace it, I confess to the guilty pleasure of rather enjoying this irreverent re-hash with its Brand humour and Mirren in fine form.
If you're after a light-hearted long weekend romp, I reckon Arthur might do just nicely.
Three stars.
