A 17-year-old Kapiti man is in critical condition after being found in the carpark of Coastlands Mall in Paraparaumu this morning.
The teenager was transported to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition, a St John Ambulance spokesman says.
The ambulance service was called by police at about 3am today after the young man was found near the back of KFC in the Coastlands carpark.
Detective Inspector Mike Johnson says an investigation is underway. He says the teenager was outside the Retro Bar earlier in the night, where he got into an altercation.
“From there the male has then gone through an alleyway, which leads to Coastlands,” says Mr Johnson. “We have cordoned off this area to complete a scene examination.”
Police say the victim is Maori and was wearing a blue and beige checked shirt with white t-shirt, blue jeans, light-brown boots and black woollen hat.
