Music fans can do their bit for conservation by heading along to a series of concerts at Auckland Zoo this summer.
For the eighth year running, a range of Kiwi musical talent will be taking to the stage at the zoo's band rotunda.
Dave Dobbyn kicked off the concert series last Friday, with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra next up on February 4.
In keeping with the venue, the APO will also be playing movements from The Carnival of Animals Suite by French composer, Camille Saint-Saens. The guest MC for the evening will be Petra Bagust.
Che Fu and The Kratez make a return to the zoo on February 12, followed by Sola Rosa on February 26.
Closing out the series on March 4 will be a double billing of The Phoenix Foundation and Liam Finn.
Revenue from the concert series will go back into supporting the zoo's conservation work, both on-site and out in the field in New Zealand and overseas.
"Whether it's the work we do here at the zoo, having our staff assist with radio tracking kokako in the Waitakeres, or giving both practical and financial support to help release rehabilitated orangutans back into protected areas in the wild, Auckland Zoo is dedicated to the care and conservation of wildlife," said the zoo's conservation officer, Peter Fraser.
A zoo music ticket is also entry to the zoo on concert day.
