While one Auckland restaurant is saying bonjour to the French during the Rugby World Cup, its neighbour has decided against taking big overseas bookings.
The French rugby team has booked out Kermadec - a top restaurant in Auckland's Viaduct Basin restaurant hub.
But next door, Geeling Ching from the Soul Bar and Bistro, says she isn't accepting requests from big groups of overseas visitors.
“We have made a decision that we need to stay loyal to the customers who have kept us in business for the last 10 years. We’ve got a very strict line on booking large groups, and particularly overseas groups, because we want to make sure that we’ve got room for our regulars,” says Ms Ching.
Ms Ching says Soul Bar has been fielding booking enquiries from overseas punters since the beginning of the year.
