Auckland commuters could be left stranded this morning, with bus drivers ditching services to attend a stopwork meeting.

NZ-Bus Chief Operating Officer Shane McMahon says all services including Metro Link, the outer link, city link, Waka Pacific, North Star and Go West buses, will be suspended between 9am and 2.30pm.

“We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience, it’s just with that number of drivers at a single meeting its not feasible to run services during the day.”

The inner link will operate as usual and services run by Ritchies Transport, Howick and Eastern, Birkenhead Transport, Urban Express, Waiheke Buses, the Northern Express and Airbus are running as normal.

Another reason why NZ doesn't use public transport - its unreliable with a bunch of primadonnas who will just stop the service to make a poitical point.

The Unions are still sour over the election result and expect to see lots of this type of industrial action to heat up as they try to hold NZ to ransom and extort NZ's ruin in the middle of a recession! It can only lead to job losses, but the unions dont give a damn about its members, nor about NZ.

How to destroy public transport. Rule 1/ have a long stop work meeting. Trade unions should go just like other dinosaurs.
