Auckland protest against Gaza attacks

About 100 people have marched through central Auckland to the US consulate in protest against Israeli military action in Gaza.

The march ended this afternoon with some people throwing shoes at the consulate on Customs St, Radio New Zealand reported.

The protesters were angry at US and Israeli policies in the Middle East.

Israel has put up to 75,000 reserve soldiers on stand-by and vowed to intensify its continuing raids on the Gaza Strip after Jerusalem was targeted by a rocket for the first time in decades.

Twenty-eight Palestinians, including at least seven children, and three Israelis have died since Israel killed the Hamas (Palestinian) military chief Ahmed Jabari during an air strike earlier this week.

There have been further Israeli air strikes on Gaza City.

US President Barack Obama has since repeated the US's support for Israel's "right to defend itself".

At least, Israel when responding takes some care for warning the people in the buildings/government offices it target using surgical precision as much as possible. There is only ONE solution.
