A large scrub fire in the Auckland suburb of Mt Wellington is understood to have been brought under control.
Ten fire appliances responded to the scene on Papango St, as winds pushed the blaze toward nearby homes in the Stonefields development.
Residents were shaken by the blaze, but no injuries were reported.
Fire crews are now dampening down hot spots.
