Auckland taxi driver stabbed over $25 fare

Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Manukau Rd, Epsom, about 6.30am on Thursday.

The taxi driver was allegedly stabbed with a knife after chasing two customers who had run from his car without paying.

He followed the pair to a house on Manukau Rd where he was stabbed following an altercation.

Police told Radio New Zealand the taxi driver had picked the two people up from central Auckland.

The distance from central Auckland to Epsom is about 7km which costs about $25 in a cab.

A 21-year-old man has since been arrested and charged over the incident.

He is due to appear in Auckland District Court on Thursday.
