We breed a lot of very adventurous people in New Zealand - some would call them mad and in Mike Heard's case, it is a 50-50 call.
The 26-year-old Aucklander is going to try and break the Guinness World Record for the highest number of consecutive bungy jumps in 24 hours.
The current record is 101 jumps in 14 hours and 23 minutes, which was set in 2002.
Mike wants to smash that next Friday, August 15.
From 6am, he will be continuously throwing himself off the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
He has 24 hours to break the record number of jumps but he wants to beat the time as well.
Concerned with how his body may cope with the ordeal, he has taken to the gym to prepare.
Dr John Mayhew is not sure how Heard will come out of this experience. He is used to testing rugby and league players but there is no information on multiple bungy jumps because only one guy has done it and they cannot find him.
Heard also has a specially designed bungy cord to jump with. A standard cord is 9.5 metres but this one is 20 metres and is thicker.
This has been a labour of love for Heard, with the exception of the enormous amounts of paper work Guinness required him to fill out.
But he is not just doing it for the glory - he is also hoping to raise $30,000 for Cure Kids.
