Final tweaking of Auckland's electronic HOP card has pushed back its first trial by two months.
The integrated ticketing system will be used on buses, trains and ferries, and was to get its first test-run this month.
But Auckland Transport chief executive David Warburton says the card wasn't quite ready.
"We wanted to make sure that the software was compatible with any form of future upgrades, so we decided to do the checking and review of the software before we started the trial, rather than afterwards."
Mr Warburton says the delay in the trial won't affect the start-date for the system later this year.
