An audit of the Rose A Lea rest home in Palmerston North has found that the Mid Central District Health Board was right to have closed it last month.

The rest home was shut down after one of its residents was found to have been tied to her bed.

There were also concerns about hygiene, inadequate staff training and a lack of professional supervision.

Another home operated by the same owners is now under temporary health board management.
