Former Miss Universe Australia Erin McNaught underwent surgery after partially severing a finger in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday.
McNaught, 27, was filming a segment for gaming and gadget TV show CyberShack when she fell from an electronic dirt bike that accelerated out from under her and trapped her hand in its spinning wheel.
"She is having a major operation to reattach the finger, reconnect nerves and blood vessels in the finger that were severed in the accident," McNaught's spokeswoman Kathy Ward told media.
The accident took place in Willoughby Park, north of Sydney. McNaught was rushed to Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital where she underwent emergency microsurgery.
McNaught is expected to spend the next six weeks in a cast and has had to withdraw from tonight's ARIA Awards, where she was scheduled to host the red carpet arrivals for MTV.
The freak accident comes after McNaught's split from Rugby League star Braith Anasta in August. He has since been linked to Home and Away starlet Jodi Gordon.
