Australian coach Lisa Alexander has named a youthful 10-player squad to contest the Fast5 netball world series in Auckland in November.

She says the tournament provides an opportunity to blood young players with one eye on the 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2015 world netball championships in Sydney.

The team features four current Diamonds players in Ashleigh Brazill (subject to fitness), Caitlin Thwaites, Chanel Gomes and Karyn Howarth.

"It's all about preparing these young players for international netball," Alexander said.

"Even though it's a different game with quite different rules, the Fast5 series still has the same skills in terms of catching, passing, driving and defending under international pressure."

The Fast5 series will be held in Auckland from November 9-11, and will be contested by New Zealand, Australia, England, Jamaica, Malawi and South Africa.

Each match comprises four six-minute quarters, with a maximum of five players on the court at any time. Goals can be worth one, two or three points depending on where they are shot from, and both sides can call a power play which will double their points for one quarter.

Australia:

Amorette Wild, Caitlin Thwaites, Karyn Howarth, Verity Simmons, Elissa Macleod, Ashleigh Brazill, Shae Bolton, Chanel Gomes, April Letton, Kate Shimmin.
