A Melbourne filmmaker has spent a year recruiting virgins willing to auction themselves on camera, with plans to turn the result into a documentary.
However Justin Sisely could face being charged with prostitution if he goes ahead with the deal on Australian soil, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Sisely told the newspaper he is instead planning a face-to-face auction in Las Vegas, where the male and female virgins will be in the same room as those bidding for their innocence.
Each virgin will be paid $20,000 and receive 90 percent of the sale price at auction.
The remaining 10 percent will go to the Nevada brothel where the auction is held, the newspaper reported.
Auditions were held in Sydney last year. A number had since left the project and Sisely said he was forced to find others willing to sell themselves.
“The hardest part is telling the parents,” he told the newspaper.
“They hate me.”
Sisely says he received a warning letter from the Victorian government and has since made plans to move to the US.
‘Veronica’, a 21-year-old Australian, told The Daily Telegraph she signed up to earn money and change perceptions about sex.
“Technically I’m selling my virginity for money, technically that would be classified as prostitution,” she said.
“But it’s not going to be a regular thing. So in my head I can justify that I’m not going to be a prostitute.”
Male virgin ‘John’ said he was willing to have sex with a male or female bidder.
“Money is a good incentive but I’m really more excited about the journey I’m about to go on,” he told the newspaper.
The deal has been labelled as “absurd” and “disgusting” by family rights campaigners.
