The families of two men missing in the central North Island may learn on Saturday night if it was the body of their loved one that was found on Friday.
Jordan Pooley, 21, from Tokoroa, and James Roberts, 45, from Putaruru, went missing while on a fishing trip at the northern end of Lake Arapuni on Sunday, August 28.
Police found one body in The Landing area of the lake, near Putaruru, on Friday, about 4pm. A boot and oil skin were found in the same area a few days ago.
Officers believe the body belongs to one of the men.
An autopsy to formally identify the man was proceeding on Saturday afternoon, police spokeswoman Kaye Calder told NZN.
Meanwhile, searchers continud to scour the area on Saturday for the second man.
Mr Roberts' dog raised the alarm on August 31 when he returned home alone.
