There is encouragement for redevelopment plans of Auckland's Queens Wharf to go ahead, despite vocal opposition from the city's mayor.

John Banks has signalled he won't be contributing any council money to the project, which aims to turn current shipping wharves into a party HQ for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The Government is asking Auckland taxpayers to contribute $100 million to the makeover.

Michael Barnett, chief executive of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, says he will be disappointed if the project doesn't go ahead.

The project has been downsized, and numerous arguments over the final design for the area have seen the project stall in recent months.

We need that $100 million dollar's to help the crime scene unless of-course the goverment is expecting more cruiseships to arrive Queen's wharf but to sport celebration's remain to further agreedments from the both party..
How is the goverment paying back the tax money?
